South Beach Diet Mistakes

The south beach diet is the latest in thing in the diet world. The South beach diet was created by Dr. Arthur Agatston. He based his South Beach Diet from the formula of the Atkins diet with a little modification. He created this diet after some of his beliefs about the Atkins diet was proven wrong. So he made a diet that falls somewhere between the right and wrong things about the Atkins diet. To make the South Beach diet effective the following mistakes should be avoided. This article will help you avoid those mistakes.

1. Avoid gaining weight in phase 2. This happens because phase 2 requires you to gradually introduce the carbs you were depriving yourself during phase
2. The carbs that you suddenly eat joyfully after phase 1 turns into fat. Instead of eating the carbs suddenly try eating them gradually.

2. If you feel hungry during the South Beach diet, you’re doing something wrong. The South Beach diet should not make you hungry because it involves the dieter to still eat 3 meals a day with snacks included. You are also able to choose from the foods allowed in your current phase the food your taste buds are quite accustomed to.

3. Some people would just stay at Phase 1 forever because it is the phase where they lose the most weight. The person will lose 8-13lbs on the first phase in just two weeks without feeling hungry. If you stay stuck for phase 1 for too long you will be having an unhealthy diet. Because a healthy diet consists of some good carbs such as porridge, whole-wheat bread and fruit. You will also get bored when you get stuck on phase 1 and therefore cheat. You will sneak in a few biscuits now and then. Just accept the fact that you would need to move on to phase 2 and lose weight slower.

4. Try not to carve for bread too much because it is bad for persons on a diet. This is because white breads are among the highest on the Glycemic Index. During phase 2 you will be allowed to eat a few of this carbs including rice and pasta. But if you have been craving for those carbs for some time, when you are allowed to eat it, you know you will eat more, unless you have a strong will power.

The South Beach diet may not cause you to lose weight. But by going on the South Beach diet it may give you more health benefits too. So don’t be disappointed when you don’t lose weight, but be happy of the health benefits you have been getting.
