Health Foods for Kids

Kids are like animals when it comes to eating time. They become wild when the food they want toe at is not what you serve. The only food they would want to eat is pizzas and burgers.

Let’s face it, burgers and pizzas are not exactly healthy woods. Even though children are every hard to feed, it is imperative that we feed them health food. We would not like our kids end up obese and have lots of complication when they grow up. So here is a list of the best health foods that children eat.

• When your kid thinks water is juice, you need to set him or her straight. Juices are good because they are great source for vitamins, especially the freshly squeezed one. I.e., orange juices have vitamin C and E, potassium, folate, and zinc. Too much juice is bad because of their sugar content. We all know how much hyper kids are when the rink sugar. The sugar in juices also makes it a very high calorie drink.

• Whole wheat breads and brown rice are healthier over their white counterparts. I guess even in food, the darker colors still are better. These brown foods are also great source for fibers, vitamins and minerals. However, do not think that white foods are bad; they also have some health benefits too.

• Proteins help kids with their growth potential. Try to give them the proper serving and balance of the following: poultry, fish, meat, tofu, beans and legumes.

• If your kids really hate the broccoli you can have an alternative by putting sweet potato on the table. Sweet potato will be more palatable for kids and also is a great source of beta-carotene. A cup of sweet potato has 30mg of beta carotene. It would take 23 cups of broccoli to reach that amount.

• Vegetables are great sources for vitamins and minerals. One of them as mentioned above is the broccoli, because it has calcium, potassium, beta-carotene and vitamin B that are good for growing kids.

• Milk and other milk products are great source of calcium that can help strengthen the bones. The cultures in yogurts are also helpful in preventing colon cancer.

• Try giving your kids cantaloupes because they are great source of vitamin B & C, beta-carotene and calcium.

It would be best to train the children earlier to eat health foods rather than have them drooling for junk foods that will make them end up in the hospital.
