The Golden Rules of Dieting

There are tons of dieting methods that have been emerging throughout the years. There are diets such as the Atkins diet, the South Beach Diet, the Tajikistan diet and many more. All of them aim to help a person to lose weight and help hunt down the obese people. The dieting methods aim to make the obese people become fit. However all of these diets follow the same golden rules.

Making a Lifestyle Change – dieting temporarily to lose weight permanently does not add up right. You would need to change the way you eat permanently. Because obviously if you only diet temporarily and return to your old eating habits the hard work you did to lose weight will be lost.

Exercise – moving your butt along will help you lose weight faster. The best combinations of exercise are aerobics and resistance trainings. It is only proper to consult with a trainer before you start exercising especially since it has been ages since you moved.

Drink lots of water – it is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking that amount of water will help keep your complexion good and also helps in curbing appetite. Just think about it, how can one eat when his stomach is filled with water? To prevent dehydration it is also suggested that one drinks water before and after exercising.

Balance the portion you eat – try not toe eat large amount of portions on your plate. It will definitely add up your calories. So try to avoid those restaurants that aim to provide bigger portions. You may think that you will get your money’s worth now, but when you gain a few pounds and need new pants, it will be more costly.

Have a food journal – this is not a diary where you will tell yourself how great your meal was because it will only make you crave more. Instead this journal will help you keep the recipes of your diet. It will also help you monitor what kind of foods do you usually overeat.

Don’t skip meals – when you skip meals you will only become hungrier and eat more the next time round. It won’t balance out the way you think it should be. Instead break down your meals into smaller portions.

Junk the Junk Food – it will take lot of will power to avoid those chips and dips. But believe in yourself, those are only food.

Modify your favorite recipes – you can still enjoy the meals you used to eat by just modifying the ingredients of your favorite meals into healthier ones. If you deprive yourself of the great foods that you used to eat, your will power will become weaker.

Get help from your friends – try to surround yourself with a group of people on a diet too. If it means that you would need to avoid those couch potato buddies of yours to lose weight, then so be it.
