There are a lot of things that you have to know about this topic before you start on a diet binge. Lately, if you’ve come to notice, diet has become all the rage. In a way, that’s good for everyone because going on a diet is usually a step towards physical fitness and excellent health. But if you don’t really need to lose weight and are doing so just because everyone’s doing it, well maybe it’s time to see a nutritionist so you’d know if what you’re doing is right or wrong.

A lot of people are under the misconception that when one goes on a diet, it means right away that you’re in need to lose weight and you have to stay away from all your favorite food. That’s completely wrong. Even people as sexy as Jessica Simpson still need to diet if they want to stay sexy and healthy.

Going on a diet may also be a necessity for some people with certain medical conditions. People with hemorrhoids for example are advised to go on a high fiber diet because it helps alleviate their condition. On the other hand, people with herpes are advised to take a specific diet – related to arginine – that would reduce the chances of their symptoms reoccurring.

If you feel that you need to diet, that’s okay, as long as you do it properly. Research on the matter first. Are you aware that you can only lose up to three pounds a week? If you lose more than that, it may not be a very healthy thing. Of course, first week results of certain diet plans are an exception because during the first week, what you’re getting rid of is just the excess amount of water in your body and that’s why you find yourself losing maybe more than ten pounds in mere days alone.

EXERCISE

Again, the same way as it should be with diet, you must make sure that you don’t overdo it when you exercise. Sure, when you’ve just finished watching Rocky or The Biggest Loser, you’ll feel very zealous about exercising and feel like you can do two hundred crunches without even sweating. But that is not the right habit to take to exercise. Not only will it lead to additional muscle pain, it may also lead you to have unrealistic expectations about exercise. When exercising, it’s also best to do it with a buddy so you’ll feel all the more motivated.
