Diet and Exercise... What Next?

Before you proceed with your diet and exercise plan, make sure first whether you need to add, lose or maintain your present weight. You may know this by calculating your body mass index, which makes use of your height and weight. If you don’t know the formula for body mass index, no need to take out pen and paper because all you have to do is go online and search for a BMI calculator.

Now, if your BMI is below 18.5, that means you’re actually underweight and you must increase your food intake and have the appropriate diet. A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered normal so all you have to do is exercise and eat the proper food to maintain your present weight.

But if you have a BMI between 25.0 and 29.9 then that means you’re overweight and you need to exercise more as well as utilize a diet plan that shall help you lose weight. But just in case you have a BMI over 29.9, do you know what that means? It means you’re considered obese. If so, consult a nutritionist or dietician immediately.

Whenever someone mentions the word “diet”, doesn’t it just invoke fearful images of starvation and self-denial? There are so many types of diet plans right now that you can easily afford to choose one that works with you best. Just make sure, of course, that the diet plan is approved by your physician. Some diet plans restrict individuals from too much consumption of certain types of food group. With a low cholesterol diet, you’re supposed to stay away from fatty food. But there are diet plans that allow you total freedom with whatever you want to eat just as long as you do so in moderation.

EXERCISE

Just like diet, whenever the word “exercise” is mentioned, it never fails to strike fear in our hearts because exercising seems to be such a futile task. Why does exercise have to take so long before it takes effect? Why can’t it show results in days? But we have to understand that exercise is a natural process and that’s why it takes much time and effort.
