Simple Ways To Burn Calories

The burning of calories in your body is directly related to the speed of your metabolism. If your body’s metabolism is slow, then only a few of the calories you’ve eaten will be burned. If your metabolism is quite fast, then more stored calories will be burned. It also means that people with high metabolism may eat more calories to maintain their weight.

There are simple ways to increase your body’s metabolism. And when you do several, if not all, of these, you will be able shed a few extra each day.

Avoid escalators and elevators. These may be great technological innovations but they cannot help you lose weight. Take the stairs. Lifting you knees and feet increases your metabolism. And if you sweat, that is even more good news.

Be active while watching TV. Let’s face it, you must watch the cathode tube. But it doesn’t mean that you have to do it as if you were hypnotized. While watching television, walk in place, stretch your body, swing your arms and your legs, and do sit ups. You may also do some housework, like mopping the floor and cooking your meals, while keeping an eye on the TV.

If you have a car, and if it is possible, park you car a little bit farther from your usual parking space. The extra walking will wake up the muscles in your thighs and legs to burn more calories. If your destination is not very far, avoid using the car. You are saving gas, not calories. Try walking or using the bicycle. When your destination is the gym, which is four blocks or so away, then walking is a good warm-up exercise.

Bond with your dog. Being too busy had allowed us to develop the habit of just letting the dog out of the house. But since you are now more weight-conscious, then it is time to accompany your dog. Walk with your pet. Both of you needed the exercise.

Play with the kids. Okay, you are an adult and playing might be a bit awkward. But, by remaining a passive spectator of the kids, you’re not helping your body burn calories. When you get more involved, the kids would welcome your presence. And, believe it or not, you will enjoy the time.

Be chivalrous. When you are in a bus or a railcar, stand and give your seat to someone else. Standing and keeping yourself balanced on a moving vehicle will help you burn more calories.

Be unique. Who says that coffee breaks and dates must involve foods laid on a table? Do something active instead, such as bowling or, if you can, rock wall climbing.
